Shox 54, Uptempo 45

For the second straight week, Shox was undermanned as Josh Gotthelf, Patrick Cassidy and DJ Webstar were out of the lineup against Uptempo. Shox certainly had their hands full in the first half with Scott Williams, who torched them for 22 points before the break. But despite failing to contain Williams, Shox were able to stick around behind the powerful play of Jason Burke, who had 14 points in the first half. The count at halftime was 28-26 for Uptempo.

Shox showed a lot of heart in the second half as they were able to play tough basketball despite having only five guys. They were able to D up on Williams (who is the league's leading scorer) early in the second half. Shox also got a boost from Justin Leonard who was hot from beyond the arc and finished with 20 points. Shox were up by 10 with two minutes to go, but behind Williams, Uptempo was able to make a comeback.

But in the end, Shox came up on top 55-47, improving their record to 2-1. The league's leading rebounder and shotblocker, Burke, finished with a team high 22 points 16 boards, 6 blocks and 1 steal for the Shox, while Williams contributed 34 points for Uptempo.

Play of the Game: With 3:43 left in the game, Leonard got a fast break and finished with a sweet left-handed layup plus drawing the foul. That play extended the Shox's lead to 42-36.
