Can we please just go ahead and give Omar Grant the Rookie of the Year award already?

Last night, Grant had the entire crowd (comprised with 92 percent males) inside the Seward Park HS, oohing and ahhing with all of his incredible offensive moves. There wasn't a single person on the Uptempo roster could stay in front of the Chris Paul clone. And remember, Uptempo is not filled with a bunch of scrubs, this team can play.

In the beginning of the game, Uptempo's Scott Williams and Nick Blatchford led the charge as their team jumped up to a 18-8 lead with 7 minutes to go in the first half. But Terminator fought back with an 8-0 run capped off by a nice dime from big man Al Reyes to Grant for a layup that tied the game at 20-20 near the end of the half. No question, Uptempo started to lose composure near the end of the half, as Williams was visibly upset with the officiating and let the refs know it too. Despite their frustration, Uptempo still went into halftime with a 26-21 lead.

The second half was all Grant. He scored 17 of his 23 points after halftime. He was able to blow past defenders and finish in traffic with contact. His left handed floater over two defenders tied the game at 46-46 with a minute to go in the game. After hitting a free throw to make the game 51-48, Uptempo had one more chance to extend the game. With just 7 ticks on the clock, Williams shot a contested three, which banked in and tied the game. He then stole the inbound pass and was fouled with 2 seconds to go. He missed the free throw and the game went into OT, where Reyes and Grant closed out the game. Terminator came out with the 57-54 upset over Uptempo.

Reyes finished with 12 points and 6 rebounds for Terminator, while Williams led the charge for Uptempo with 23 points and 7 boards. Uptempo's Mike Won, with his dad in the audience cheering him on, had a strong showing and finished with 17 points and Blatchford chipped in with 18 points.
