In his NRF debut, Dan Solomito exploded for 38 points and 12 rebounds. The following week former league MVP Jason Burke put up 21 points, 16 rebounds and 6 blocks. The week 4 match up between Shox and Dunk was highly anticipated because of the Burke/Solomito showdown. One NRF player describe Solomito as Jason Burke 2.0 and the original Burke was determined to show the rookie why he is a former MVP. At least for last night, like the Godfather and Speed, the original was better.

Burke laid his claim as the best PF in the game by attacking the basket (and Solomito) early, putting up 16 first half points. Burke's aggression put Solomito in foul trouble, and once Solomito sat there was no one who could stop Burke in the post. Solomito approached the game in the exact opposite manner of Burke. Solomito scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds but stayed away from the paint (and Burke) on offense preferring to rely on his range and jump shot. Burke's aggression and diverse offensive game allowed him to take over and he ultimately ended with 27 points and 12 rebounds. 

With Burke dominating and Solomito struggling, Dunk needed someone to step up in order to stay in the game. The man who stepped up was none other than Kool Bob Love, Bobbito Garcia. Bobbito must of discovered the fountain of youth last night and summoned his inner Nike Freestyle commercial. His handles were on point (he even executed a Shamgod) and his jump shot kept the game close. Bobbito finished the game with 18 points, 2 assists and 1 block but Bobbito alone couldn't over come the contributions of Shox as a whole.

Justin Leonard showed he had the range for the Garden knocking down two deep 3s as Dunk started to cut into Shox's lead. Pat Cassidy had an off shooting night and was visibly frustrated but still managed 10 points. The ultimate X factor for Shox last night was Josh Gotthelf. Josh was seemingly everywhere on the court and ended the night with 3 steals, 3 assists and 4 rebounds off the bench. Coach Joe Beaf guaranteed a double digit victory during pregame and though his team did not secure a double digit victory, they did improve to 3-1 with a 52-47 win.
