Air Force 1 51, Generation 26
The third matchup of the night featured a clash of styles as AF1 had the look of the Running Rebels of the 90's, while Generation slowed the pace with a half court motion offense. With the game mainly in a stalemate, AF1 do-it-all post, Jason Burke (21 points, 14 in the second half) got busy in the mid-range game and helped his team to an early eight point lead with an and-one bucket at the 15:25 mark in the first half (26-18). Burke's seven first half points combined with the team's uptempo play sped up the tone of the game. With pressure mounting, Generation tried to switch up it's gameplan and run with the youngins' but it wasn't the way to go. AF1 backcourt mates Brandon Smith (11 points) and Bang Lee pushed the rock before their team built a large enough lead to sit in a zone.
Generation seemed flustered and indecisive and as their deficit grew, so did the teams frustration. Joe Branch had a team high eight points but the team was so out of sync, they even caught a tech for having six players on the court in the second half. With such a veteran team, this shouldn't happen in the future, but tonight it wasn't in the cards as they went down 51-26.
