Week 1 Recap: Hyperflight vs. Uptempo

Hyperflight 41, Uptempo 65

In the second game of the NRF season tip-off, Uptempo lived up to the teams namesake from the jump behind the devastating combo of post pressence Jarek Carethers (nine points) and lanky swingman Scott Williams (who had a game high 23 points). Reminiscent of NFL New York Giants backfield tandem Ron Dayne and Tiki Barber's "Thunder" and "Lighting", but with sly moves they should be called "Power" and "Finesse". The newly-named tandem helped Uptempo to an early 12-0 lead.

 
Jeff Chen controlled the pace for Uptempo as he knifed through the defenders with hesitation moves and drop passes. Niko Klansek cracked the scoreboard for Hyperflight midway through the first half but his team couldn't handle the pressure from Uptempo as they had 11 first half turnovers. Hyperflight made a 29-4 run in the first half, capped of by three-pointer from Nick "I still got-a-lot of it" Blatchford (22 points).
 
The second half saw more running and gunning from Uptempo as Chen (six points) got to the rim with ease, to maintain his teams 20-point cushion. In an effort to keep it respectable, Klansek had a team high 11 points for Hyperflight but Uptempo got disrespectful with a 63-41 win.
