Shox 49, Generation 30

Generation started the game out hot with back-to-back three’s from Joe Branch (13 points) and Weston Spotts (13 points). Team Gen’s slow pace was working, until Chad “Beasterling” established his low post presence and lead the Shox to a two-point lead. Everything was all good for Chad, in the first five minutes-he was really feeling it. And then he felt the floor, when he went for a highlight reel dunk and relived his childhood with a “Grant Hill drinks sprite” miss. Still the Shox were ahead 10-5, but Branch anchored the Generation with an old-school three-point play, cutting the lead to two.  The youthful Shox never established a big lead in the first half, trading baskets with Generation, despite their normal run-and-gun style. Nicole Arcidiacono knocked down two jumpers in the first half and CGF (11 points, nine rebounds) made his presence felt at the rack, but Generation stayed within five by halftime.

The biggest problem all season for Team Generation has been putting together two halves, and unfortunately for them, they weren’t about to figure it out against the Shox. Justin “The commish” Leonard (seven assists) set up his crew all second half and Beasterling (23 points) let it be known that his team wasn’t losing, jawing off with his opponents at every chance. Branch was clearly frustrated as he checked out of the game with eight minutes left. The second 4-point play of the night came courtesy of Chad with 2:15 left on the clock, sealing the 48-28 W for the Shox.
