The theme of the night was absence and the second game continued right along following in the footsteps of the first. Terminator started the game having to borrow JJ McGowan and Jomo Davis from Generation. Eric Raymundo who has been one of the few bright spots for Term this year continued doing what he’s done and all season and hit a three making the lead 6-5 in favor of Air Force 1. Next trip down Raymundo connected again to give Terminator a one point advantage. At the 15 minute mark Tony Forte showed up and made his presence known by hitting a one handed putback. After getting a hard foul on an inside shot NRF All Star Jason Burke began his free throw woes with an air ball. It wouldn’t be his first. On the other end Al Reyes hit a slashing Omar Grant for a backdoor lay with the contact to make the game 12-9 for Air Force 1. Somewhere along the way Dao Yi showed up and there was a full Terminator squad. Brandon Smith showed he wasn’t scared to let it fly and hit a deep three off the assist from Bang to give AF1 a 4 point lead. Towards the end of the first half Burke again made a strong bucket but bricked the free throw. Air Force continued to pile it on and by halftime they had amassed an 8 point lead.
Brandon Smith continued the second half how he left off the first and drained another three to make it an 11 point game. A pretty three quarter pass from Bang to Jay Corbin stretched the lead out to 13. Then Omar Grant decided it was time to play. Omar hit Air Force 1 with a series of floaters as he continued to take it straight to the heart of their defense closing the gap and making it 34-27. After hitting 2 free throws the next time down the lead was only 5 points. The next possession for AF1 Jason Burke again got to the line and again he airballed a FT. This may or may have had to do with the timely and accurate heckling comparisons coming from Weston Spotts. However while Burke struggled Brandon Smith continued to find his rhythm and hit again from behind the arc making the game 39-34 for AF1. Omar Grant not to be outdone hit a three of his own on the other end. After Air Force 1 failed to get any points Terminator got the ball back and Raymundo hit a jumper giving Term their first lead. They would not give it back.
With the exception of a turnover by Tony Forte Terminator finished the rest of the game calm and in charge. An assist from Raymundo gave Reyes an easy bucket. Brandon continued to battle and drove to the hole to get an and one but couldn’t convert. Things got close when Omar Grant was at the line and Tony Forte absentmindedly wandered off of the line causing a violation. Omar missed the second and Air Force 1 now had a second chance. Unfortunately they couldn’t do anything with it and Grant hit a big three next time down to seal the W .
