- Team Foamposite V. Team Generation

Week 11: Recap Team Foamposite V. Generation

Outside of the Garden there was no place where Melo’s star power was more evident than at 350 Grand St. The Knicks newest acquisition showed his ability to draw defenders near to him as he brought what seemed like 60% of NRF to watch him. At 7:18 Foamposite Captain Do Kim was looking at a 4 man roster. After doing some frantic texting the game finally got underway with Terminator big man Al Reyes filling in as the 5th Foamie. Reyes proved his effectiveness early by scoring the first points of the game. The next time down the court Chris Dowling drove to the hoop with ease giving Foam an early lead. Another unsuccessful offensive possession for Generation lead to another easy bucket for Dowling which lead to Bobby Joseph audibly chastising his team with a frustrated “REALLY??” (To be fair you could hear heartbeats the gym was so quiet). By about the 5 minutes mark Ron Jackson showed up and the Foamies had a full 5.  The first half continued with more groans from Bobby Joseph and for good reason. By halftime the score was a depressing 11-9 with Foamposite just edging out of single digits.

Gabe Urist rambled into the gym during halftime and made the observation that the score looked like that of an elementary school girls game. He wasn’t that far off. The second half started off with both teams trading possessions and turnovers for a solid 2 minutes. Around the 11 minute mark Generation’s Jomo Davis connected from downtown to cut the lead to 23-20. A few possessions later Generation ran a perfect triangle offense that lead to an easy layup for Joe Branch and all of a sudden it was a 2 point game.  Do Kim made an acrobatic steal with 6 minutes left to play and hit Evan Waterman on the outlet giving Foamposite a one point advantage. Weston Spotts responded on the other end with a jumper and Generation had the lead but it would be short lived. With the ball underneath their own basket Ron Jackson hit Evan Waterman on a curl for a wide open layup to make the score 30-29 in favor of Foam. The rest of the game was decided by turnovers and missed free throws. Ron Jackson went 1/3 down the stretch but was bailed out by Generation’s inability to convert. They had another chance down the stretch when Evan Waterman turned the ball over but Bobby Joseph and Joe Branch both missed their attempts. Do Kim gets fouled on the other end, hits the first but Foam recovers the rebound and that’s ball game.
