Dunk 37, Uptempo 59
Dunk started this game not having any real idea as to who they'd be able to look to without Bobbito Garcia (30 stitches in his head/face) or Will Blunt. But they figured it out pretty quickly: Scott Nelson.
It wasn't nearly as pretty as what Uptempo was doing - playing immaculate team ball for easy deuces. But it still kept the score close. Nelson was finding the bottom of the net on fadeaways from 8 feet and ugly shots. But who cares? With some help from Bang Takenouci, Dunk kept it respectable in the first half. But soon the tireless work of Danny Milan and Dave Jacoby on the block and high post would take a toll on Dunk's D.
Speaking of Danny Milan, I think that he's the best passing big man in the League. He has great vision when he's getting a double-team, or even when he's looking to tip a teammate off of a long rebound. He was finding everyone in a blue jersey on the court, helping Uptempo to play at a ridiculously high level in transition especially. He busts his butt down the floor and is awesome at finding a weakside teammate wide open.
Despite Danny's great play, Uptempo was unable to pull away during the first half. Dunk was playing solid defense. But it was still a matter of time before Dunk through in the white towel.
Scott Williams doesn't miss three's. He was heat checking himself and just pulling anything that looked decent last night. And virtually everything was going in. Stalley also played well, knocking down outside jumpers galore. By the time he struck again from three it was already 45-32 at a lot of the stores. Blink twice more and it was totally done, with 58-37 on it.
It was the only game of the night really decided on talent. I thought every other game was about heart.
