No matter how chummy these two teams are off the court, the truth is that they don't know each other that well on it. Their first meeting of the season came before Generation really figured things out, and in their second matchup, Shox had to play without the majority of their squad.
To further illustrate the point that Generation was out of sorts when these two teams met in Week 4, Brian Saul led Gen. in scoring with 10 points. Saul proved last week that he is one of the most capable on-ball defenders in all of NRF, but he's not an offensive juggernaut. Expect Saul to pester Shox's ball handlers this week, but it will be the usual four-headed monster of Rafael DaSilva, Joe Branch, Dan Cherry and J.J. McGowan doing the majority of the scoring.
But Generation's biggest question mark going into this one is whether they'll be able to deal with Shox's size down low. Do they have someone who can physically match up with Jason Burke? Can they prevent Will Eberhart from getting into the lane at will as he's done all year long? They say offense sells tickets, defense wins games and rebounding wins championships. On paper, Shox has the edge on the glass.
Key Matchup:
Will Eberhart vs. Dan Cherry
Both guys are playing some of their best basketball of the season right now. Cherry was borderline dominant during Generation's first-round win, sinking turnaround after turnaround. But on the other side of things, Eberhart has been an efficient machine recently. Last week he missed only one shot from two-point land. Can either guy stop the other one? If they both go off, who has the edge?
