Week 15 Recap: Delta Force vs. Generation

Delta Force vs. Generation

Delta Force 38, Generation 55

After this week’s Power Rankings, the whole league knows that they have to worry about Generation when they see them on their schedule. While Generation was able to beat Huarache without Joe Branch and Dan Cherry last week, this week they were facing a very similar Delta Force squad and luckily had their two vets on hand.

Getting off to a quick start, Generation rattled off six straight to open the game and seemed to be hitting everything. It was as if Bobby Joseph had read Mike D’Antoni’s book “Seven Seconds Or Less” as he barked at his team to take quick shots early and often. With frequent subbing and an up-tempo game plan, it appeared Generation’s goal was to run the shorthanded Delta Force squad out the gym.

But Delta Force had their secret weapon – Sureshot – waiting to check in. On his first play, he drove, up-faked, drew the foul, made the bucket and got the and-one. (Why this guy isn’t starting, I don’t know…) Cutting the lead to 17-12 with five minutes left in the first half, Delta Force was playing some ugly ball but still keeping themselves in the game. Generation on the other hand came out hot, but with such a deep bench, found it tough to get all their players in a rhythm.

At halftime, the score was 24-18 in favor of Generation, but the game was far from over. Anyone that knows Delta Force knows that they play tough and hard. But in their defense, although they lost fair and square, Delta Force was basically playing a game of five-on-seven. As more than one spectator commented, the refs were “questionable.” More than once I thought it was Festivus because during the game Delta Force couldn’t help but air out their grievances. But back to the game.

Rafael DaSilva (14 points, 5 steals) continued his brilliant play as he looks to follow in the footsteps of Derrick Rose and become this year’s NRF Rookie of the Year. His importance, along with J.J. McGowan to this Generation squad can not be said enough. In the second half, with those two out of the game, Generation resorted to isolation plays and one-on-one instead of moving the ball. Without their PGs and ball handlers, Generation has no way to administer the offense.

In the end, Generation was firing on all cylinders and Delta Force just didn't have it in them. Final score: Generation wins, 55-38.

Yo, what up with the box scores. Coffey is wondering where that block is that I gave him along the baseline. Ha ha! P.S. DaSilva is smooth and deadly aka Mercury. Mercury: A silvery-white poisonous metallic element, liquid at room temperature...wet like Raffy's jump shot.
