Week 20 Recap: Generation vs. Uptempo

Generation vs. Uptempo

Generation 36, Uptempo 45

Finally, the game we were all waiting for. After meeting two weeks ago, both teams brought their full squad and you could tell they both wanted this game. Early observation: Scott Williams could be the toughest player to guard in the league. Period. It doesn’t matter big or small, this guy will eat your heart out.

Owing to the element of the game, after five minutes Uptempo led 4-1, with tough defense and jitters coming from both teams. When Uptempo is all together, they are a completely different team. After a few weeks of absences to key players, it was interesting to see them try and play through it.

After 10 minutes had gone buy, nothing really had changed. The score was 6-4 in favor of Uptempo, and the physicality of the game was dictating the tempo. Back and forth, there wasn’t much rhythm achieved in the first half, as Uptempo went into the break up 21-12 after Rafael DaSilva made a three at the buzzer.

In the second half though, it was as if that three opened up a can of worms. It was Raf Gone Wild. Coming out gunning, DaSilva cut the lead to 23-19. Calling a timeout to regroup, Uptempo fired right back with four straight, as Williams just simply got buckets.

Then the defense kicked back in. For seven minutes, the scoring output was 4-2, as Uptempo managed a 31-21 lead with eight minutes to go. As the matchups on defense took over, it seemed that no one could stop DaSilva though as he cut the Uptempo lead to 36-31 with just under five minutes to play.

But then Uptempo put it away. David Jacoby came down the floor with the razzle dazzle, and Williams continued to get his. Part no offense, part lack of defense, just couldn’t get it down for Generation.

Final score: Uptempo wins, 45-36.
