Dunk 76, Huarache 45

With no LeKeith Taylor and Christian Grant-Fields against Dunk you might think, “No problem.” But clearly the people thinking that didn’t play for Dunk. After five minutes, Dunk had jumped out to an 14-4 lead and it appeared without their two bigs that Huarache was going to lose the battle of the boards to Will Blunt and Co.

But trying to keep them in it early was Richard Ting, who must only shoot bank shots when he goes to the gym. After watching him every week this season, I’ve come to the conclusion that he must work for Windex.

Rivaling Scott Williams’ cheering section, Thomas Harden decided to roll deep for the late game and it was certainly a game to remember. After missing a couple lay-ups, his buddies were jumping out their seats screaming at him. Hilarious!

But playing with only five guys, it made it even harder for Huarache to dig themselves out of their hole. And with Gabe Urist continuing his three-point onslaught that started in warm-ups, Dunk was able to make it a 23-9 lead with 10 minutes to go in the first half.

From there, despite Huarache’s “Goonies Never Say Die” attitude with Pat Cassidy knocking down some shots here and there, Dunk was able to make it 42-18 at the half after Bang Takenouchi knocked down another bucket.

In the second half, if Huarache could have packed it in they probably would have. To get back in the game, Cassidy would have had to make 15 threes and Dunk would have had to play 5-on-1. Continuing their offensive display, Dunk finally got a good game under their belt – without Bobbito Garcia no less – as they head to the playoffs looking to make history.

Final score: Dunk wins, 76-45.
