NRF Player Profile: Al Reyes

Al Reyes

In the past few weeks, Al Reyes has been hitting game-winners like they were lay-ups. The 6-5 big man has been a new player this year for Terminator, vaulting his squad to the best record in the League. But with a tough game tomorrow against Uptempo, Terminator is going to need their workhorse to play big once again. Take a few minutes to learn a little bit more about Al....

Name: Al Reyes
Team: Terminator
Industry: Finance
Job title: Sit on the loan trading desk at a hedge fund called Chatham Asset Mgmt.
What do you do for your job? Stare at numbers and spreadsheets. Try to make as much sense of this crazy world as humanly possible
Age: 29
Hometown: NYC
Height: 6-5
Weight: 235 Ideally… Right now, too scared to get on the scale. Getting there though.
Shoe size: 13
Position: Forward / Center, though at times I tend to think and move like I’m Sam Perkins and hover behind the 3.
My Home Court: Growing up it was Highland Park in Brooklyn… Now it’s any court that I can get a good run at.
Playing Experience: Four years of D1 Ball... But the ball was Baseball for me.  Played a ton of high school basketball and did the AAU thing for a bit though. Never lost the love for basketball for one second and played every chance I could which used to piss the hell out of my baseball coaches when I showed up with a sprained ankle or a jammed finger.
Favorite Sneakers: I will always love the Jordan V’s but my favorite bball kicks were the black and purple Air Unlimiteds worn by the Fab 5 when they were changing the game. Damn, those kicks would look gorgeous with the Terminator unis.
Favorite Player: Charles Barkley (all-time)
Favorite Team: New York Knicks
Go-to-Move: Jumpshot from anywhere on the court where Tony Chan won’t yell at me. But I like the test the waters though and see what I can get away with.
I play: To Win... I hate losing more than anything.
Coming up I admired: My Mother. Raising me, working, and going to school at the same time must not have been easy but she got it done without complaining. Much of my strength and determination comes from her.
My basketball moment: My first ever in-game dunk in High School. I still get goosebumps thinking about it.
