Huarache 60, Dunk 48

If there was a preface to this game, it would be that Huarache GM LeKeith Taylor spent his pre-game “meal” not across the street at Subway, but rather in the back gym beasting through a medicine ball workout. If that doesn’t scream hardcore, than I don’t know what does.

But to get things started, it was Taylor passing to his point guard Eric Raymundo who connected from three. Answering right back was the teamwork of Bang Takenouchi linking with Dan Solomito from deep. With both teams playing hardnosed D, the game remained close. With six minutes left in the first half, Huarache led 19-15.

Coming out of the timeout, rookie Terance Takyi hit Thomas Harden with an in-and-out move that had him auditioning the join the U.S. speed skating team during the Winter Olymipics. Takyi hit him so hard, that he even had to hold him to keep him from falling. Couple that with another trey bomb from Raymundo and one from Billy Dodson, and Huarache closed the first half on a nice little run. At halftime, the score was 30-21.

But the second half was a different story. Starting with a quick bucket while Dunk was asleep at the wheel, Taylor garnered an and-one to push the Huarache lead. While Takenouchi answered right back with a triple, Huarache’s mission was not going to be derailed by Dunk. Even though Steve Halo was able “to Halo” Raymundo in front of his five person fan club, it was too late. The balanced attack of Huarache was too much.

Final score: Huarache win, 60-44.
