Week 11 Recap: Huarache vs. Air Force 1

Huarache 58, Air Force 1 45

Let me be frank: I don't care how good Air Force 1 looks on paper, if they don't actually get their whole team to show up each week, they're never going to be any good. As you can see with the League's elite this year - Uptempo, Terminator, Huarache - all of these teams play like a team. As much as Air Force 1 thinks they can mail it in during the regular season before the playoffs like the Spurs, there's one problem: They have no chemistry! Now back to the game...

After an early three from Billy Dodson, things got scary for Huarache. One minute into the game, LeKeith Taylor went down after taking a knee to the kidney/ribs. Luckily he was alright, but you could definitely see he was in pain the rest of the game. With no point guard in attendance, Air Force 1 was forced to have Chris Dowling bring up the ball, thus hampering his ability to score. But after five minutes, the score was tied 9-9.

Without a doubt, the steal of this year's NRF Draft is Roscoe. The south-paw has one of the sweetest jumpers in the league, and just adds so much versatility to this team. With March Madness in mind, this squad is like Kentucky. Made up almost entirely of freshman, this squad is extremely explosive and dangerous. By halftime, they had pushed the lead to 27-21.

But Air Force 1 wasn't just going to quit. Despite only having five guys, Dowling, Brandon Smith and even Cory Hogan were knocking down threes, while Dao Yi Chow's first game back in a looong time showed that he still has some rust to work off. One play that just showed Huarache wanted it more was when Taylor saved the ball jumping into the stands while still delivering a bullet pass to Matthew Bowman for the deuce.

Altogether it was an ugly game, with both sides complaining about calls down the stretch, but in reality it was just poor offense and even worse defense. One gem for Air Force 1 though was a nice block by Kevin Wildes at the end, but that's about it.
