NRF Player Profile: Ryan Kearney

Ryan Kearney

We already know that Ryan Kearney has great facial hair, but what else do you know about Dunk's three-point threat. An NRF champion with Uptempo two seasons ago, Kearney is doing everything he can to get back to the Garden. Take a few minutes to learn a little bit more about Ryan....

Name: Ryan Patrick Tully Kearney
Team: Dunk
Industry: Jewelry And Clothing Design
Job title: CEO of GerardTully / Co-Owner of Black White Color (a t-shirt project with my man Halo)
What do you do for your job? I do rverything there is for GerardTully from top to bottom. All designs, concepts, website, business and PR comes through me. A little too much to handle as I’d love to have a company take over the business end. I am way more an idea guy although the business end is unfortunately always there in your face and demanding of the most time.
Age: 35
Hometown: Born in NYC (St. Vincents) and raised in the Dirty Jersey 15 minutes away... the Meadowlands
Height: 5-11
Weight: 160
Shoe size: 10
Position: Guard
My Home Court: Hamilton Park in Jersey City
Playing Experience: Recreational ball for as long as can remember...
Favorite Sneakers: Air Jordan 1. My first Jay in 1985 was a gift from my sister during Christmas at her house in Brooklyn
Favorite Player: Allen Iverson – from VA to Georgetown to the Sixers. I will never forget how close he came against the Lakers to getting a ring on a squad that should have never been anywhere near going to the Finals. Bobby Hurley and Kenny Anderson are a close second and third. Jersey City and Rego Park kill it!
Favorite Team: It’s been painful for some time now, but it’s the Knickerbockers baby! I also liked the Nets as I grew up five minutes from the Continental Arena in the Meadowlands. Darryl Dawkins a.k.a. Chocolate Thunder was my neighbor, as well was Mark Jackson after leaving St. Johns and becoming a Knick superstar! NY and NJ: All in the family.
Go-to-Move: Shooting threes and 10 foot J’s all day in warm-ups and then clanking the hell out of the rim come game time. Still trying to settle in.
I play: D all day! It’s what wins games.
Coming up I admired: Ma Dukes, Daddy O (RIP), the rest of my family, friends, artists, athletes and all do gooders. Also my skateboarding community, and integral part of my life.
My basketball moment: My basketball moment had to be NRF 2008 Uptempo victory in the Garden. I hit a free throw to give us a 33-32 lead in a game which we won 34-32! It was amazing playing on that floor with a great Uptempo squad! We were definitely thought of as underdogs going into the playoffs, needless to say the finals. It was great fun and I’ll never forget it!
