Week 15 Recap: Terminator vs. Shox

Terminator 70, Shox 41

What happens when six of your teammates don't show up? That's right, you play four against five. And that's exactly what happened tonight when Shox played Terminator in the first game. As we discussed in the stands, there's a reason in fantasy sports why - regardless of them being your favorite team - you don't draft the entire New York Knicks roster to your squad. The reason being, when the Knicks have the night off, you have no fantasy points coming in. For Shox, that means when Josh Gotthelf, Pat Cassidy and Justin Leonard have something going on for work, Shox is simply out of luck. As Jacoby put it, "There's a reason you never put the President and the Vice President on the same plane."

Anyways, back to the action. To start the game, Shox was holding their own. After three minutes, Terminator only managed to muster a 2-0 lead, so GM Tony Chan called a timeout to get his players back in attack mode. By extending the pressure fullcourt, Terminator was getting after it, but they were also extremely sloppy with the basketball.

For Shox, Christian Grant-Fields was in full attack mode. But early on, despite his aggressiveness, Terminator was doing damage from beyond the arc. With nine minutes remaining in the first half, the score was 19-9, and Omar Grant was just getting started raining threes. While his offense was flowing, Grant also took it upon himself to check Grant-Fields on the defensive end. But where there's a will, there's a way, and Grant-Fields was all hustle.

Speaking of hustle, in his most minutes of the season, Mazzi Behi was ballin' out. On one play, coming down on the fastbreak, Behi put the ball between his legs to Grant-Fields for the layup. But while that was flashy, Terminator's brand of basketball was simply efficient. On the following two plays, Grant got the ball to Treasure Kyn Neal for consecutive buckets in the lane, and Dan Gladstone continued his marksmanship by knocking down back-to-back triples. But right when you thought it was over, a three from Grant-Fields at the buzzer cut the lead going into halftime to 36-23.

In the second half, it was a different story. Think 2-15 seed in the NCAA Tournament, where the two-seed sticks around for the half, before they lose by 25. That's how this one played out. Despite J.J. Jensen's great defense down low (which included two huge stuffs that resulted in jump balls), after five minutes, the lead for Terminator was 47-27. And despite Grant-Fields playing like Rambo in the jungle, Behi dropping dimes and Richard Ting (a.k.a. Mr. Bank Shot) doing some work, there was simply no way the four-man army was going to be able to climb back.

Final score: Terminator wins, 68-41.
