Delta Force 49, Hyperflight 42

After Damian Bulluck made two huge trades yesterday, no one really knew what was going to happen when Delta Force took the floor against Hyperflight. For one thing, Bulluck wasn't even in the house, and neither was newly acquired forward Dan Cherry. So with only five guys - Sureshot, Smiley, Kelvin Coffey, Lenny Dixon and Myorr Jahna (who played in his first game back since a knee operation) - it was anyone's guess as to the result.

Hyperflight on the other hand, had all 10 of their guys in attendance (although Derrin Woodhouse couldn't play sans jersey). After losing to Dunk the previous week, they still had a bad taste in their mouth. But once again, they struggled against the zone. Sloppy play, a lack of ball movement and just an overall feeling of malaise overcame the team, and Delta Force capitalized on it.

It was all heart for Delta. After another tough season, the five members of the squad banded together and battled all game. With no subs, there was no avoiding the tempo, but they dictated it on both ends. While on paper Hyperflight should have dominated the game, they simply didn't take Delta Force seriously. And paid for it.

While Coffey and Sureshot attacked the rim, Smiley was the real difference maker. In his first start of the season, that confidence boost allowed Smiley to run the two-man game with Coffey (you know, just as they do down at XXL) and the results paid off. As a team, Delta Force finally played to their potential, gained momentum and everyone played at the same pace. Put it all together, and that's a W.
