Foamposite 48, Uptempo 65

I'm sorry, but no matter how good Huarache or Terminator has been, the best team in the league is the two-time defending champs. Hands down. Playing without MVP candidate Mike Won who's still out with a broken nose, Uptempo had to dig in for this one against a Foamposite team that can really play. And although David Jacoby wasn't able to make it as he was out in L.A. kicking it with Bill Simmons (who wouldn't respond to my tweet about Jacoby being traded), Foamposite got off to a great start.

After 10 minutes, as is the case when most people play Uptempo, the score was close as Foamposite led 11-10. But unlike recent weeks with multiple point guards on the floor, Foamposite looked slow on offense, and Uptempo in return looked stagnant themselves. But sure enough, when there's talent, there's buckets. And Uptempo started to heat up. After a quick 5-0 run led by Nick Blatchford's attack of the rim, Uptempo had pushed their lead to 22-12 with five minutes left to play in the half. And that's about all she wrote.

Sure Brian Saul dropped a nice dime to Ron Jackson down low, and sure Mike Tumbarello never gave up, but this game was Uptempo's to take. And they did. Despite Scott Williams being the anti-Kevin Durant of the NRF in terms of fouls called, Foamposite was never really able to cut the lead below 10. And when that happens, you lose.
