Generation 52, Delta Force 41
Before this game, I had noted that it was going to be the V For Vendetta special. With Jose Carlson coming over to Generation from Delta Force, and Dan Cherry (a former Generation player) now playing Delta Force, there was a lot of bravado to begin the game. Problem was Carlson couldn't play. With former Generation star Rafael DaSilva in Los Angeles, and his jersey most likely at home in his gym bag, Carlson had to start the game on the bench. (But we'll get back to that in a moment.)
After five minutes, and the score 5-4 in favor of Generation, it looked like this game was going to be hard to come by a basket. But then the dynamic frontcourt duo we saw last week came to life. Joe Branch and Dan Solomito ravaged through the defense, and after two minutes, the score was 14-6. Maybe it was the run, the hustle or just frustration, but all of a sudden, the next thing I know is that Danny Alotta is on the ground with a Steve Nash-like gash above his eye. While it was scary for a minute, sometime a lot of blood isn't necessarily a bad thing. Thankfully, he got up and walked away.
But back to the game, the moment shift had happened and there was nothing Delta Force could do. With five minutes left in the first half, Generation's lead was now 22-11 (despite Branch missing a wide-open layup). While most teams in this League play better when they have a couple guys on their bench to sub in, it seemed that Delta Force couldn't find any rhythm this week after having only five guys the week before.
After halftime (where Generation led 27-17) they started to pour it on. Being the ultimate team player that he is, Alotta had changed out of his jersey and given it to Carlson to play. Wanting to go against his former team, Carlson came right in and scored. Between him, Jomo Davis and Solomito doing work on the block, there was nothing Delta Force could do to stop them.
Note: Smiley told me after the game that he's going to drop 20 next week. Terminator, you've been warned.
