Week 19 Recap: Foamposite vs. Hyperflight

Foamposite 52, Hyperflight 60

Just like I predicted in the preview, this week's Divorce Special was a great game. With two teams battling for a playoff spot, you couldn't ask for anything better. Hyperflight started things off playing the type of ball that they knew they were capable of. With confidence and aggressiveness, they went into attack mode early - on both ends of the floor - and didn't give up. For Foamposite, they were looking to do what they always do and attack the basket with their guards, while dishing to their bigs. Something had to give.

Foamposite jumped out to an early lead behind the shooting of Mike Tumbarello and Brian Bachelor, so Hyperflight made the call to switch from zone to man. Their run ensued. Charging back behind Lou Miguel's three-point shooting and Chad Gittens' attacks to the hoop, with five minutes left in the first half, Hyperflight was only down five. Playing with their rotation, they realized that after last week's second-half loss, it was important to keep everyone fresh. And they did.

In the second half, it was the inspired play of Jed Berger that helped Hyperflight not only get the lead, but maintain it. With 10 guys that never say die for Foamposite, it was all about being strong with the basketball and taking the right shot. By moving the ball, Foamposite didn't have the height to compete with Hyperflight down low, as the twin towers of Niko Klansek and Jeremy Siler did work all night. In the end, despite a furious comeback attempt by Foamposite, Hyperflight was able to hold on for the W.
