Week 21

- Team Terminator V. Team Dunk

Week 21 Recap: Terminator vs. Dunk

Terminator 0, Dunk 0

The divorce special was, to put it nicely, slow to get started. After the first eight minutes, the score was 4-4. And rather than looking like an indoor men’s league, it looked more like an outdoor boys league. Errant passes, bad shot selection and both teams just looked dead tired. But thankfully, things picked up.

At the end of the day, you can’t teach hustle. And both these teams showed that. Despite the shooting woes and turnovers, they were able to put some points on the board, with the score tied 16-16 at the five-minute mark. A bucket from Treasure Kyn-Neal, followed by a bucket from Rafael DaSilva, and this one was neck and neck. The next play down, DaSilva decided to pass the rock to a cutting Thomas Harden for the deuce. To close things out, an and-one bucket from Kyn-Neal gave them the nice lead going into the break.

In the second half, Kyn-Neal continued his dominance down low. But Dunk wouldn’t back down. Back-and-forth, these two teams wore each other down. And at the 15-minute mark, at 29-28 in favor of Terminator, it was the closest it’d been in a while.

For the next few possessions, EVERYBODY missed. And how do I know? With the FlipCam, I was trying to catch a highlight. Sure dudes were making moves, but no one could finish. Then, the shots started to fall. Dan Gladstone knocked down a three, followed by Ryan Kearney from deep as well. After a dime from DaSilva, the score was tied 37-37 and neither squad was going to give in.

It went on. Although he wasn’t having his best game, Omar Grant came up huge in the clutch. But it seemed every time he made a big shot or deep three, Kearney would answer. And every time Gladstone would convert, DaSilva would answer. These four guys – as noted in the game preview – were controlling the outcome of the game. With five minutes left, the score was tied 45-45.

And speaking of clutch, Grant was the epitome at the end. Playing through the lack of calls, he kept his composure and simply made plays. Despite a furious comeback attempt by Dunk, there was nothing they could do.

Final score: Terminator wins, 58-50.

Couldve sworn that I played NRF Basketball the last two weeks. Apparently not, as the box scores have said otherwise.
