Week 12 Recap: Team Hyperflight vs. Team Uptempo

Hyperflight 74, Uptempo 48

Hyperflight found themselves in a world of trouble before their game against Uptempo even began last night. With star player Niko Klansek still out with an injury, Hyperflight was forced to run with only four players for most of the game. For Uptempo, 5-on-4 meant wide open threes for sharpshooters Scott Williams, Nick Blatchford, and Mike Won - all guys who can easily score 20 points a piece every night when the sides are even, let alone when they're allowed to play H-O-R-S-E.

The star of the bloodbath though was Williams.

He started the game in rhythm and quickly scored the first six points for Uptempo. The score was 15-7 in favor of Uptempo when Bobby Jones of Hyperflight did his best to put the team on his back and scored six straight points to make the score 17-13. But there would still be too much Scott Williams for them to deal with. After an and-one at the 2:18 mark in the first half, Williams had outscored Hyperflight 15-13 by himself and finished the half with 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals.

Hyperflight's Jay Corbin started the second half with a three pointer of his own and it looked like his squad might have had a little fire going for them, but it wasn't to be. Scott scored 13 straight points in the second half as he continued his onslaught, scoring 26 in the second half alone. For Hyperflight Bobby Jones went on a little run scoring nine straight for his team but it just wasn't enough. Bobby Jones finished with 25 points for Hyperflight and Jay Corbin finished with 15 points, connecting on three shots from behind the arc.

Scott Williams finished with 41 points on the night and Nick Blatchford finished with 13 points scoring 11 of his 13 in the second half.

Throughout the night some of the crowd was discounting Scott's 41 because he did it against four players, but I don't care if it was five against one you have to respect his performance because he made shots. The final score of the "debacle" was 74-48 in favor of Uptempo.

It's hard to get 41 points in the driveway shooting around so hats off to SW. With that being said taking so many 3's in the 2nd half while up by 20 made my homie a official douche bag....nuff said. Next time we play that entire game will be remembered....trust! Terrence Chin is in the crosshairs for not stopping the onslaught an subbing Scottie for DJ Reason for the remainder of the game.

For the record, Coach Chin played the entire team and did NOT green light the Williams for DJ Reason sub in the final minutes. That said, if you've seen us play all season you know that shooting 3's is our normal flow. Those shots took the least amount of effort against a zone. It just so happened they were ALL falling that night. Uptempo is focused on defending the championship in July, not on individual stats in March.
