Shox 57, Delta Force 42
The second game of the night featured Shox vs Delta Force, and I must say that this Shox team looked very impressive behind a great performance from their star center Christian Grant-Fields. CGF finished with 23 points, 13 rebounds and also shot an amazing (for him) 7-11 from the free throw line.
Shox started off hot - sharpshooter Pat Cassidy led off his team's scoring for the night with a three and scored 10 of his 15 points in the first half. Back in action for Shox was point guard Justin Leonard who came off the bench midway through the first half to do his thing. Leonard scored all seven of his points in the first half, but put on a show for the crowd in the second half and had defenders dancing out there on the court. First he had Delta Force point guard Sureshot jumping in the air like he was reaching for stars when Leonard threw a couple of hesitations and head fakes his way. And then later, on the play of the game, Leonard came off a screen and put the ball behind his back and took a step backwards and made Delta Force defender Kelvin Coffey take a seat straight down on the floor like he was away at a camp in the woods with marshmallows in his hands waiting to be read a story. That move attracted serious oohs and ahhhs from the crowd.
A person whose name won't show up on the stat sheet but played a major role in this win for Shox was Josh Gotthelf. Josh harassed opponents on the defensive end with his aggressive and very active hands on defense. Sureshot led Delta Force with 13 points and Kelvin Coffey pitched in 10 points in a losing effort.
Final score in this game was 57-42 in favor of Shox.
